In 1899, we began as a ministry for and with immigrants from Japan. Throughout the years, we have been an important part of the Japanese-American community in the Greater Seattle area but our mission has evolved over time to also embrace those who identify themselves more broadly as Asian-American/Pacific Islander and beyond. We celebrate that our current members are now diverse in their ethnicity, ages, and backgrounds. We gladly open our doors in Christ's name to all of our neighbors regardless of where they come from. Followers of Christ, seekers, skeptics and beyond are all welcome!
JBC is affiliated with the Evergreen Association of American Baptist Churches. We support its mission, values, and purpose. We partner with them through our giving and personal participation. We also support other Christian missions and agencies and we are especially drawn to those that serve our local neighborhood and/or provide ministry to the Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander community.
Love God. Love Neighbor. Live in the Way of Christ.
"This Church accepts the Bible as the final authority for faith and practice. As a church, we shall honor the priesthood of all believers, affirm the centrality of Scripture in our lives, gather regularly to worship God, seek justice for all persons, affirm the Church's unity in Jesus Christ, care for the needy the weak and the oppressed; embrace all races, ethnicity and genders."
